The Magic of a Saint Tropez Winter | St Tropez House Blog

Many wrongly assumed that the South of France is purely a summer destination, when the temperatures regularly hit the late 30s and the only way to cool off is by leaping into the clear blue Mediterranean sea. But the magic of Saint Tropez doesn’t disappear with the heatwaves, and the South of France in winter has its own wonderful charm. [Read more…]

A good, clean, night out in Le 6 in Nice!

From the moment you walk into Le 6 you'll feel like you have found a hidden gem of a nightclub in Vieux Nice. Despite being only 12 years old, Le 6 seems to get better with time. For a more intimate-sized lounge, its personality seems to extend beyond its physical confines. Le 6 is marketed as a gay-friendly club/lounge with the feel of being an intimate, high end private club, just without the private club fees. The clientele is predominately gay but everyone is more than allowed to join in the fun.

Once you step inside you'll notice the club has a high-tech metal-type décor gently mixed with the building's original beauty and character. Contrasted with the ornate ceiling, it seems to work style-wise.

Happy 21st to the Semi-Marathon International de Nice!

The fabulous backdrop of the Promenade des Anglais is once again the setting for the annual Semi-Marathon International de Nice, now in its 21st year. The event takes place on Sunday, the 29th of April, and with four different classes of race on the card, there is definitely something for every standard and class of athlete.

The Semi-Marathon is obviously the big race, drawing the top athletes, who will be using this as a means to qualify for the French Championships. If 21.1km is a bit too daunting a challenge, you might consider the 10km, though be warned, there will also be a group of elite athletes participating here, also with their eye on the French Championships.

Check out all the Carnaval action in Nice with Le Roi du Sport!

Nice has been hosting a winter carnival for the last 700 years, traditionally seen as a last chance to eat, drink and make merry before the start of Lent and 40 days of fasting began. From 1294 up until 1872, the carnival was a festive whirl of balls, dances, masquerades and enormous battles carried out on the streets of Nice by masked revellers who threw flour, eggs and confetti at one another. Why should this year be any different?!

The first ‘modern carnival‘ was organised by local man Andriot Saëtone in 1873 and he also founded the ‘Comité des Fêtes‘ which continues to organise the Nice carnival today. He was also responsible for introducing the enormous floats which parade up and down the Promenade both day and night and providing the tiers of seats which line the Prom and Place Masséna for the spectators to watch the action close-up.

Centre LGBT – The New Playground for the Gay Community on the Riviera

Many people ask what is out there on the French Riviera for the gay community. For a while, other than a few clubs and La Civette, I would say not a whole heck of a lot. But recently something came to Nice that is like a cool breeze in Savannah. No, I don’t mean The Lady Chablis – I’m talking about the new LGBT Centre in Nice!

The Centre is a playground for all of the LGBT associations in the area including those for cultural events, sports, civil and legal action and social gatherings. They also have the skinny on all the happenings in the area, where to go and where to avoid, unless you’re into that sort of thing!!
