A Trip Around the World in the Exotic Pallanca Garden in Liguria

A wind announces the arrival of spring and summer on the Riviera dei Fiori, bringing with it a longing to go out, the need to move and to be out in the open air. Sun, sun, sun. In the summer it gives you a fantastic tan. In autumn and winter it makes you throw your coat away and caresses you with warmth. In spring it seduces you to go to the beach. It is a gift of Matuta, the goddess of the sea and the dawn that had a weakness for our lovely region.

A good, clean, night out in Le 6 in Nice!

From the moment you walk into Le 6 you'll feel like you have found a hidden gem of a nightclub in Vieux Nice. Despite being only 12 years old, Le 6 seems to get better with time. For a more intimate-sized lounge, its personality seems to extend beyond its physical confines. Le 6 is marketed as a gay-friendly club/lounge with the feel of being an intimate, high end private club, just without the private club fees. The clientele is predominately gay but everyone is more than allowed to join in the fun.

Once you step inside you'll notice the club has a high-tech metal-type décor gently mixed with the building's original beauty and character. Contrasted with the ornate ceiling, it seems to work style-wise.

Size matters at the Grimaldi Forum’s Extra Large exhibition

This summer’s main exhibition at Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum is a collection of monumental pieces from the Pompidou Centre’s collections.  At first this sounds like a daft idea – a bit like deciding to read all the big format books in a library. And yet, once you get inside the show and start to follow the logic of curator Ariane Coulandre, you find yourself drawn into all kinds of parallels and similarities in this preposterous concept.

National Front to sue Madonna

Madonna, coming to Nice on August 21, is in trouble with France’s extreme right-wing party the National Front.   The Material Girl has put the cat among the pigeons by showing FN leader, Marine Le Pen’s face with a swastika on the forehead in a stage concert video backdrop. The image later morphs into the face of Adolf Hitler.  The incident took place at France’s Stade de France.

The FN, previously led by Ms Le Pen’s father, Jean-Marie, who once described the holocaust as a “detail of history”, is upset about being associated with fascism in Madonna’s video.

Tour de France deflated by sabotage

The Tour de France has been hit by an act of sabotage as tacks have been thrown across the road just as the main pack was approaching. Last year's winner, Cadel Evans, was among the riders hit, suffering two punctures. Worse still, his team could not get another bike to him as the first teammate to arrive also had a flat, and the team van could not get through the narrow roads filled with competitors to reach him. The rest of the latest stage was played out in a surreal situation where current yellow jersey Bradley Wiggins organised for the pack to slow down to allow Evans to catch them up.

The stage was won by Spanish rider Luis Leon Sanchez.
