The Pain de Sucre line was established almost 30 years ago with a workshop in the south of France.
During the last quarter of a century, Pain de Sucre’s two head designers sought to make their line the final word in smart French designer swimwear. In addition to being one of the predecessors of bikini-jewelry, second-skin materials and ultra-light quick-drying fibers, Pain de Sucre also redefined beach-wear with a wide range of coordinated apparel accessories.

Best 67th Cannes Film Festival Dresses

67th Cannes Film Festival

Cannes Film Festival is sadly over for another year, but before we pass on to the next social whirl that is summer on the Cote d’Azur, let us reflect a moment on the biggest event in the movie calendar.
OK, there were some great movies shown, and yes, some new talent was no doubt undiscovered, but what we really want to know was who looked good and who would have won if the Palme d’Or was presented to the best dressed stars.
If the team at St Tropez House were sitting on the jury for the best dressed actresses at Cannes Film Festival this year, our votes would have gone to:

Blake Lively

The American actress looked a million dollars when she appeared on the red carpet in Cannes in a majestic black and white Gucci Premiere dress. She then trumped again in a stunning white showstopper by Chanel Couture.

Chloe Moretz

Natural beauty Chloe Moretz celebrated her coming of age at Cannes in a stunning Chanel ensemble which she wore with confidence and grace at the premiere of her new film Clouds of Sils Maria in which she stars alongside Kristen Stewart and Juliette Binoche.

Suki Waterhouse

It was a great Cannes Film Festival for British born actress Suki Waterhouse, who shone throughout the fortnight in dresses by well-known designers like Christian Dior as well as relatively unknown brands such as Peter Pilotto.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley

Another British star to steal the show was actress and model Rosie Huntington Whiteley, who wowed the crowds lining the red carpet in sensations by Emilio Pucci, Gucci Premiere and Cushnie et Ochs.

Sofia Coppola

Although at Cannes this year to work – the award-wining director sat on the Palme d’Or jury – Sofia Coppola looked every inch the superstar in a string of stunning dresses from Marc Jacobs to Valentino.

The Saint Tropez Sandal: K.Jacques

K.Jacques St Tropez

If you renting a luxury villa in Saint Tropez this summer and glance down to look at the ladies’ feet amongst you, you might well notice that a certain leather sandal appears to be in vogue.

And that same sandal – the Tropezienne – has been in fashion for many years now since it was created in the 1930s in a small workshop in a back street of Saint Tropez.

Not to be confused with the delicious cream-filled pastry of the same name, the Tropezienne sandal was first designed by Armenian refuges Mr and Mrs Jacques Kéklikian in 1933 in a shop in rue Allard, close to some of our more central villas to rent in Saint Tropez.

Also known as K. Jacques, the first leather shoes were made to measure for each and every customer including Brigitte Bardot, who came to Saint Tropez as a young starlet and fell in love with the picturesque port and all that it encompassed.

In the 80-odd years since the company was founded, the K Jacques brand has gone from strength to strength, with three sales outlets in Saint Tropez itself as well as a showroom shop in the Marais quartier of Paris.

K. Jacques has also collaborated with some of the most prestigious designers in the world such as Isabel Marant, Karl Lagerfeld, Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Missoni, which has helped to establish its reputation as a luxury brand.

Still very much a family firm, however, the company now employs more than 25 people and exports to all corners of the globe, including America, Japan and Africa.

Although some of the styles of K Jacques have not changed since the pre-war days, there are now many more designs and colours involved in making these hand-made sandals.

Celebrity fans of the Tropezienne, which are the perfect footwear to slip on in the heat of the summer in Saint Tropez, are numerous and include models Miranda Kerr and Kate Moss, as well as actress Hilary Duff.

British Model Alexa Chung Wows in Saint Tropez

Alexa Chung in St Tropez

Saint Tropez has been the favoured destination for the beautiful set since 1954 when Brigitte Bardot was filmed lying seductively on the golden sands of Pampleonne for the movie that put her – and the former fishing village – on the map.

Bardot, who incidentally still lives in Saint Tropez not far from many of the luxury villas we rent near the water’s edge, came to what was previously nothing more than a small seaside resort to film And God Created Woman.

She ignited a huge interest in the town, which continues to be hugely popular with actresses, models and royalty who come each summer to soak up the unique St Tropezienne atmosphere in luxury rental villas.

Bardot’s film is not the only movie to have been partially shot in Saint Tropez. There are a number of other famous films which used the quintessentially French port as the back drop, such as Bonjour Tristesse and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as well as an increasing number of commercial adverts.

One such advert to have recently been shot in the picturesque streets of Saint Tropez near our more central Saint Tropez House villas to rent is Longchamp’s Spring 2014 campaign starring Alexa Chung.

The British beauty fronted the campaign of French leather goods brand Longchamp to mark the 20th anniversary of the its’ best-selling Le Pliage bag.

The shoot, which was captured by renowned photographer Max Vadukul and styled by Alexis Roche, show Ms Chung in a series of poses shot in and around Saint Tropez.

The full print campaign will be unveiled in February, with a short accompanying film by Jean-François Julien to make its debut during New York Fashion Week 2014, which takes place from February 6th to 13th next year.

Pop-up Boutiques Spring up in Saint Tropez

Rent villa in St Tropez

Over recent years the phenomenon of pop-up shops has been gaining remarkable momentum all over the world.

The term was coined in the early 2000s when savvy retailers opened up stores for a temporary period of time in surprise locations – and then disappeared. The idea behind them was to test a product to see if there was a demand in the market, and also to cash in on people looking to spend.

Pop-ups are now proving to be so successful that these kind of temporary stores are appearing on many high streets in towns and cities across the western world.

And Saint Tropez – home to our portfolio of luxury St Tropez House villas – is not immune to this new shopping phenomenon.

It has recently been revealed that a number of pop-up stores have been set up in the center of town, a stone’s throw from our selection of villas in Saint Tropez in a gated community.
