Loulou evokes its Riviera Flair on Pampelonne Beach

Immortalised by Brigitte Bardot in the 50s, glamorous Pampelonne Beach has been attracting the rich and famous for over six decades. Today, the 5km sandy stretch is synonymous with chic restaurants and exclusive clubs which keep guests coming back for more each season.

The much anticipated opening of Loulou Beach took place in 2019 and took Pampelonne by storm, immediately elevating the expected level of food, decor and flair to be expected at a Saint Tropez beach club. St Tropez House takes a closer look at Loulou Beach and explains why it has become a landmark location for VIP’s! Let’s dive in…

Loulou Who?

Those familiar with Paris’ fine dining scene will have heard of Italian restaurant, Loulou. Housed in the grand Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the sleek restaurant has a coveted location at the heart of Palais du Louvre, with views stretching to the Eiffel Tower. Fittingly, its grand dining rooms resemble a private gallery… one with a seriously impressive decorative arts collection. Think gleaming marble floors, heavy velvet drapes and an elegant outdoor terrace. The lower floor’s seventies-inspired salons are crowned by a light-filled upper dining room, with an Art Deco twist. And the vibe? As friendly as you could wish for, striving to create the feeling of visiting loved ones in a grand country house.

It’s chic sister restaurant, Loulou Beach, St.Tropez, is a collaboration between Jean-Philippe Cartier, the head of the H8 Collection Hotels, and Laurent de Gourcuff and Gérard Malafosse, the duo with whom he already manages the Saint Tropez’s Hotel Ermitage, and Loulou in Paris.

La Vie Bohème

From the onset of its opening in 2019, Loulou impressed with its ability to transport guests back in time to the glory days of Saint Tropez. It’s decor pays homage to the 50’s, when the world’s rich and famous chose Saint Tropez as their preferred playground. It’s timeless elegance couple with bohemian style makes Loulou the perfect embodiment of the French Riviera. The care taken and quality necessary to achieve the reputation that Loulou now boasts is impressive to say the least!

The Loulou Experience

Visitors to Loulou’s Restaurant can expect sun-kissed seasonal Italian classics. Executive Chef Benoit Dargère creates simple yet expressive dishes which he describes as “the South of France on your plate”. His selection of quality, locally sourced products transform each dish into a vibrant memory guests will not soon forget. The menu will feature simple mezze, covering all bases, from easy-going pizzas to extravagant lobster creations. Expect seasonal dishes like asparagus risotto and linguine with fresh clams. The restaurant also features an impressively extensive wine and cocktail list for those wishing to wind down or up!
