One thing is certain, when summer in Saint Tropez is considered, there are rarely any dull moments. This season however was certainly one that deserves a memoir, in order to paint the picture of the highs and lows this iconic French village witnessed in 2021.
Set against the backdrop of uncertainty due to covid and its ever evolving restrictions, no one was sure how Saint Tropez would fare this season; if businesses would be open and how restrictions would change the Saint Tropez experience for guests. It is our pleasure to report however that in spite of some temporary closures and extra safety measures put into place, guests were able to carry on enjoying their favourite restaurants and beach clubs under the golden Saint Tropez sun!
What were the highlights of the 2021 Saint Tropez season?
The illustrious Les Caves du Roy opened its doors and wowed guests with its electro/house music, VIP guest list and illuminated palm trees which adorn the dancefloor. This legendary dance club has hosted several generations of icons and celebrities since its opening in 1967 and continues to be a must visit location for guests wanting to dance the night away.
From old icons to new, the much anticipated, Tuscan inspired beach club Gigi opened and paved the way for a higher standard of elegance and opulence in Saint Tropez. This new ‘IT’ spot attracted the most distinguished of guests and was fully booked for the entire season. It’s restaurant La Cucina enchants guests with its outdoor Tuscan charm and haute Italian cuisine while its playground Gigi Circus ensures that children enjoy their day to the fullest with a variety of supervised attractions. If you want to be close to the action of this hot new beach club, Villa Vibes is the perfect location for your villa rental. This beautiful Provençal villa is only a two minute walk from Gigi and guests can even enjoy the DJ sets while relaxing in the garden of this villa by the pool. The music at Gigi begins around two in the afternoon and ends at seven thirty in accordance with local regulations.
Other notable mentions include the new chic restaurant Villa Azur which opened this season. Serving refined Mediterranean cuisine and set against a mythical backdrop, this restaurant has received only positive reviews from St Tropez House guests! Another new addition to the must visit list includes Casa Amor Beach club. Having begun in Tulum, this boho chic beach club invites guests to enjoy the white sands of Pampelonne while experiencing the exotic flavours of Mexico!
Well known establishments also re-opened this season, including the landmark restaurant Le Café which welcomed guests to its wonderful ambience and French cuisine. From St Barths to Pampelonne, the much anticipated Shellona Beach club also welcomed back guests to its Greek inspired cuisine and bohemian backdrop.
Guests visiting from all over the world were not disappointed at the level of liveliness and glamour they were welcomed with this year in Saint Tropez. The beautiful Jenny from the block snuggled up to Ben Afflect for her 52nd birthday in Saint Tropez and was spotted several times around town and partying on her yacht! Top beach clubs and restaurants including Loulou, Bagatelle and La Vague d’Or were fully booked throughout the season, reminding jet set guests to prebook their favorite spots for 2022!
St Tropez House had the pleasure of welcoming guests from a wide range of nationalities, including: American, Norwegian, Belgian, English, Russian, Kuwaiti and German! Travel restrictions did not get in the way of them enjoying the Saint Tropez sun! It also did not stop the real estate market from booming, with three villas in the prestigious domain of Les Parcs selling for over 20 million euros over the past 6 months!
Villas for rent were reserved quickly and little availability was left by June. The unique gem villa Ama was booked back to back and new exciting villas came onto the market such as villa Malko. Others such as villa Sunset were impressively renovated while 3 villas in our collection dropped owing to the fact that they were not up to standard. Private chefs were in high demand this season and most of the luxury villas secured a chef in the comfort of their villa. A notable mention was also awarded to the chef at villa Ama, who received numerous compliments from guests for spoiling them with his impressive, haute cuisine.
Regardless of the time of year, Saint Tropez is a picturesque seaside village which enchants all those who visit. This summer season however was one with such unprecedented highs and lows that we felt it necessary to document it for the years to come. On behalf of Saint Tropez House we would like to thank our guests and dedicated staff in Saint Tropez for making this a successful and memorable summer! We look forward to enjoying the golden sun with you all again in 2022!
