The House of Chanel St Tropez pop-up boutique has been a summertime staple of our portside village for over a decade, hosted in the baroque mansion-turned-hotel La Mistralée, located just a stone’s throw away from the Vieux Port. Below, discover everything you need to know about this luxury pop-up.
Why host a summertime House of Chanel shop in St Tropez?
The decision to establish the emblematic Chanel house in St Tropez every summer is much appreciated by both residents and visitors alike. St Tropez has known a cult following since the 1950s and is closely connected with the history of Chanel: Cruise collection fashion shows have been hosted in the harbour, and the legendary Coco Chanel was often spotted scouring the charming paved streets in search of inspiration. What’s more, as one of the French Riviera’s most exclusive destinations, St Tropez is a popular shopping destination for the world’s elite, many of whom count Chanel amongst their designer staples.
What to expect from the Chanel House boutique
Every year, the House of Chanel St Tropez pop-up store and adjacent lush gardens undergo a luxury makeover to reflect the brand’s codes and latest collections. Alongside the sparkling jewellery, countless accessories and premium beauty products on offer, the Chanel house in St Tropez always features unique pieces from the brand’s newest lines.
This year, this will include the prestigious “Metiers d’art” collection which celebrates artisanship and cutting-edge techniques in fashion. As usual with Chanel, expect très chic, timeless silhouettes and revisited classics designed by Virginie Viard, the label’s marvellous creative director since 2019.
Modelled by Monaco royalty Charlotte Casiraghi, the 2021 Printemps-Été collection celebrates the elegance and glamour of the French Riviera, making it perfect for browsing in sunny St Tropez.
Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld & St Tropez
No doubt the collection’s Mediterranean flair is a sentimental wink to the late Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s former acclaimed creative director and one of the Riviera’s most stylish residents. Lagerfeld was an accustomed St Tropez vacationer, frequenting the town’s swanky restaurants, quaint bookshops and hottest parties year after year. In 2010, he even produced a remarkable Chanel fashion show in the harbor with a 1960’s-revival Cruise collection and a throng of celebrity guests that cemented St Tropez as an international fashion destination.
