The picturesque town of Saint Tropez is a hive of activity over the summer months with people literally spilling out of their favourite restaurants and bars, such is the demand for a table.
But as the weather cools down, and the crowds disappear, you will suddenly find that it’s not such an uphill battle to make a reservation at your favourite St Tropez restaurants. For, while a number are only open during the summer months to cater to the tourists, a large number of restaurants are open all year round to service the local population and off-season visitors.
Here are some of St Tropez House‘s favourite St Tropez restaurants which are open all year round and a great option for dining out if you are staying in one of our luxury villas.
La Bouillabaisse St Tropez
La Bouillabaisse beach club is one of the favourite haunts of celebrities and locals alike in summer, and fortunately it is also open all of winter from Wednesday to Sunday at lunchtime, and serving a “Super Brunch” every Sunday, starting from the 19th of November. The relaxing atmosphere and contemporary interiors are the perfect way to experience the beach without worrying about the weather.
In this famous St Tropez restaurant, you can enjoy grilled fish, exotic salads, and caviar to wash down with their classic selection of St Tropezienne cocktails, like Spritz Aperol, Mojitos and the Saint-Tropez Star, while admiring the view of the bay of Saint Tropez. Tel: +33(0)4 94 97 54 00
Au Caprice des Deux
Known as one of the best of St Tropez’s restaurants, Au Caprice des Deux has been around for two decades now since being opened in 1994 by a brother-sister duo who have won various prestigious awards for their culinary efforts. Their menu encompasses all sorts of Provençal specialities of the highest quality. We would recommend the foie gras for starters, followed by a grilled tuna with sesame seeds and soy sauce, and finish your meal off with a decadent chocolate fondant cake with mandarin sorbet.
With a convivial atmosphere, this restaurant encompasses what St Tropez does best – elevating the culture of Provence to world-class opulence. In the off-season Au Caprice des Deux is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Tel: +33 (0) 4 94 97 76 78
La Plage des Jumeaux
While a beach restaurant may not be your first thought in the winter months, La Plage des Jumeaux is a covered restaurant on the beach, so you can enjoy the elements crashing around you as you sip a glass of excellent red wine in the warmth.
One of the few St Tropez restaurants open in the off-season on Pampelonne Beach, La Plage des Jumeaux is open every lunchtime, all year round. The famous chef, Jean-Yves Allaire, offers a menu of typical Mediterranean foods, such as seafood and grilled vegetables. With various snack foods, the menu is certainly a crowd-pleaser.
