Alexa Chung in St Tropez

Saint Tropez has been the favoured destination for the beautiful set since 1954 when Brigitte Bardot was filmed lying seductively on the golden sands of Pampleonne for the movie that put her – and the former fishing village – on the map.

Bardot, who incidentally still lives in Saint Tropez not far from many of the luxury villas we rent near the water’s edge, came to what was previously nothing more than a small seaside resort to film And God Created Woman.

She ignited a huge interest in the town, which continues to be hugely popular with actresses, models and royalty who come each summer to soak up the unique St Tropezienne atmosphere in luxury rental villas.

Bardot’s film is not the only movie to have been partially shot in Saint Tropez. There are a number of other famous films which used the quintessentially French port as the back drop, such as Bonjour Tristesse and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as well as an increasing number of commercial adverts.

One such advert to have recently been shot in the picturesque streets of Saint Tropez near our more central Saint Tropez House villas to rent is Longchamp’s Spring 2014 campaign starring Alexa Chung.

The British beauty fronted the campaign of French leather goods brand Longchamp to mark the 20th anniversary of the its’ best-selling Le Pliage bag.

The shoot, which was captured by renowned photographer Max Vadukul and styled by Alexis Roche, show Ms Chung in a series of poses shot in and around Saint Tropez.

The full print campaign will be unveiled in February, with a short accompanying film by Jean-François Julien to make its debut during New York Fashion Week 2014, which takes place from February 6th to 13th next year.
