Last month we at St Tropez House waxed lyrically about how wonderful Christmas was in Saint Tropez, and today we are going to back up our enthusiasm with fact.
We have managed to get our hands on a program of the festive events being held around Saint Tropez which look, as usual, first class.
But rather than list them all, we have decided to pick a few of our favourites to get those of you coming to stay in one of our St Tropez House villas this Christmas in the festive spirit.
Without doubt one of the highlights of the manifestations de Noel is the turning of the Christmas lights, when excitement is fever pitch and the anticipation of the holiday season almost tangible.
This year, the celebrations to kick start Christmas in Saint Tropez will take place on Thursday, December 5th, as soon as darkness falls at around 6pm.
Only once the strings of elegant lights draped around the Place des Lices and the rest of the town have been illuminated can the festivities really begin.
Wrap up warm to enjoy the outdoor ice rink which is set up in the main square – not far from our more central Saint Tropez properties to rent – or wander round the charming Marché de Noel for Christmas gift ideas with a cup of warm mulled wine in hand.
Another of our favourite Christmassy events not to miss in Saint Tropez is the annual ice-skating spectacle by brilliant performers La Candeloro Show Company, this year taking place on December 23rd at 5pm. We guarantee that you will find it hard not to shake your hips when the dancers get rhythmic on the ice.
But without doubt the best part of the festivities in Saint Tropez – even at our ripe old age – is the arrival of Father Christmas or Papa Noel by boat on Christmas Eve. During the evening of the 24th December, everyone’s favourite white-bearded papi turns up at the Vieux Port in a speed boat to wish the people of Saint Tropez a very Merry Christmas – or Joyeux Noel.
