And with the weather forecast mostly good, apart from a few drops of rain over Saint Tropez on Sunday, it promises to be an exceptional week of sailing.

More than 3,500 sailors are set to take part in this year’s week of races, which finishes next Sunday, so expect Saint Tropez to be busier than normal with a fantastic ambiance every evening as participants let their hair down over a glass of wine or two.

Les Voiles de Saint Tropez is generally regarded as the season finale and many visitors come from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the breath-taking spectacle unfold in the waters off Saint Tropez.

Categories in the prestigious regatta include events for both modern and classic sailing yachts, with classes such as ‘esprit de tradition’, Wally and 12 meter America’s Cup yachts being held throughout the week.

However, the piece de resistance is La Grande Classe Trophy, an invitation-only event launched in 2004 which sees some of the most beautiful classic yachts battling it out to win the Rolex Trophy.

Classic yachts that have distinguished themselves in the racing world are invited to join in the event which will take place next Thursday.
