Ramatuelle is a picturesque hilltop village a pebble’s throw from the famous beaches of Pampelonne, where many of our most exclusive St Tropez House villas are situated.
For much of the year, the medieval village is a calm oasis and a wonderful place to retreat when the hectic bustle of Saint Tropez gets too much.
The village, which enjoys magnificent views of the Bay of St Tropez, dates back to the 8th century and a meander around its cobbled streets will give you some idea of its ancient roots.
Ramatuelle is also home to a string of excellent restaurants, chic boutiques and first class art galleries which are well worth a visit if staying in a luxury villa in Saint Tropez.
But the highlight of the annual calendar in Ramatuelle is without doubt the festival period, when two world-class events take place over four weeks in the height of the summer.
The Festival de Ramatuelle is a vibrant fortnight of drama which has been staged in the picturesque village since 1985.
The festival regularly attracts around 250,000 spectators each year, who come to see more than 1,400 artists perform at various venues throughout the village including its very own Theatre de Verdure. This year’s drama festival will run from July 27th until August 11th.
Once the theatre empties of Thespians, it is filled once again by musicians for the world-famous jazz festival, which takes place this year between the 16th and 20th August.
If you have booked a St Tropez House villa this summer and would like tickets to any of the events, please do not hesitate to ask one of our staff to help you. Alternatively go to the website of the Ramatuelle Tourism Office www.ramatuelle-tourisme.com.
