Most of us are familiar with the birth of Saint Tropez onto the international scene after the small French fishing village was discovered by a young and extremely beautiful Brigitte Bardot in the 1950s.

Bardot was in the South of France filming And God Created Woman, directed by the actress’s then husband French filmmaker Roger Vadim in the summer of 1954.

The star was so mesmerized by this picturesque coastal town, home to our portfolio of St Tropez House villas, that she never left. Now in her late 70s, Bardot still lives in a secluded waterfront property and there are references to the former blonde bombshell everywhere you turn in this now famous resort.

Perhaps her greatest legacy however is Club 55, a delightful beach club a stone’s throw from some of our most exclusive St Tropez House villas which the starlet used to go to every lunch time during her filming all those years ago.

Then just a simple wooden cabin on the beach, the beach restaurant was adopted as a canteen for all those on the set of And God Created Woman, and the rest, they say, is history…

Now, Club 55 boasts some of the most-sought after tables in Saint Tropez which famous politicians, Hollywood greats and up and coming pop stars all clamber to reserve in the height of the summer. It is notoriously difficult to get a table in July and August and clients in our Saint Tropez villas near Club 55 should remember to book well in advance so as not to be disappointed.

But once you are sitting at that beautifully set table on the soft white sand, you will no doubt be glad you thought ahead. The food is simple and delicious, the views second to none and the ambiance certain to ensure you have a day to remember.
