A close look at Saint Tropez’s La Residence de Pinede

Every coastal resort has its favorite luxury hotels, and here in Saint Tropez, we are spoiled choice. For, dotted around this picturesque corner of France and close to our portfolio of Saint Tropez House villas are a handful of exceptional hotels.

But perhaps the most famous and definitely one of our most-loved hotels is La Résidence de la Pinède, an exquisite resort situated on the outskirts of Saint Tropez, just a pebble’s throw from some of our luxury villas with a tennis court.

This luxurious hotel is set in idyllic grounds at the entry to Saint Tropez, and its name comes from the beautiful mature pine grove in which it was built, more than 70 years ago.

The hotel opened in 1936, long before a scantily clad Brigitte Bardot had put Saint Tropez on the world map after she filmed And God Created Woman on Pampelonne Beach. In fact, back then, the resort which is now home to our elite collection of luxury villas with a tennis court was little more than a charming fishing village adored by painters, artists and romantics.

Now adored by a much wider public including royalty, world politicians and Hollywood greats, Saint Tropez is very much the place to come in the summer months, with La Résidence de Pinède in particular being extremely popular amongst the international jet set.

It’s easy to see why this luxury five star hotel has such a following. Ideally situated on Plage de la Bouillabaisse and benefitting from its own section of private pristine beach, La Résidence de la Pinède looks more like a royal palace than a 39 room hotel.

Set in splendid gardens, it is a haven of tranquility on the water’s edge yet just a moment’s walk from central Saint Tropez and its vibrant bars and nightlife. It also has a magnificent swimming pool for guests to enjoy.

But perhaps the hotel’s piece de resistance is its gourmet restaurant, La Vague d’Or, which recently became one of the few restaurants in the world to be bestowed three Michelin stars.

This sublime restaurant, open to guests as well as those who stay in rental properties such as our Saint Tropez House villas, was awarded a coveted third Michelin star in this year’s edition of the Michelin Guide for its Provencal cuisine, masterminded by talented chef Arnaud Donckele.
