The month of May is without doubt one of our favorite times to discover Saint Tropez. The weather is getting warmer, the rain has for the most part dried up, and the beaches are all but deserted.
It is one of those rare months in Saint Tropez where restaurants, bars and hotels have opened for the season, yet there aren’t too many people about.
But if you are after a bit of excitement during your stay in one of our Saint Tropez House villas, then there are also a number of fantastic events held in May that might appeal.
Perhaps the most famous of all festivals to be held annually on the Cote d’Azur is the Cannes Film Festival, which will this year take place between May 15th and 26th. Cannes is a 75 minute drive from the majority of our Saint Tropez House villas but just 20 minutes by helicopter, so if you fancy socializing with the great and good of Hollywood, keep this date in mind.
Meanwhile, at the end of May, those staying in any one of our exclusive collection of luxury villas with chef might like to consider driving along the coast to Monaco, where they will be able to experience the thrills of the Formula One Grand Prix.
But if you would rather stay put and enjoy the peace and quiet of your luxury villa with chef in Saint Tropez, there are also a number of great events closer to home.
Perhaps the most noteworthy is La Fete de la Bravade, which will take place between May 16th and 18th in the streets of Saint Tropez.
A ‘bravade’ – meaning act of defiance – is a three-day festival which dates back to the 15th century, when the whole town comes alive with energetic processions, music and dancing. During La Fete de la Bravade, a bust of the patron saint is carried through the town with a guard of honor in an infectious procession attended by young and old.
