Two and a half hours of athletics in Monaco on Friday night will be the prefect preview to the Olympics, as the annual diamond league meeting takes place at the Stade Louis II. Even without the injured Usain Bolt, this is a fine range of athletes taking part in fifteen disciplines.
Last year we saw Usain Bolt run 100m in 9.88 seconds, and Kipruto just missed out on the 3,000m steeplechase by a split second. We also saw Renaud Lavillenie clear 5.90m in the pole vault. But last year’s meeting also saw an unfortunate incident when Mahiedine Mekhissi and Mehdi Baala came to blows at the end of the 1500 m.
