Terrence Malick’s vastly ambitious film, “The Tree of Life” has been awarded the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2011. Other prizes went to French docu-drama “Polisse”, silent movie “L’Artiste”, and Kirsten Dunst for her role in Lars von Trier’s “Melancholia”. The jury awarded a split second prize shared between the Dardenne brothers for their “Kid on a Bike” and Ceylan’s “Once Upon a Time in Anatolia”. Israeli film “Footnote” won best screenplay, while “Drive” took top director.
