Less than a year ago Cote-dweller Brian Levine (a writer, producer and actor) sat round a table in Grasse with Brit film director Kris McManus. The sun was out, the pool was glistening and they’d just sold their film ‘Travellers’ (which Kris directed and Brian produced) to the UK and Germany. What next? Levine mentioned that he’d love to make a black comedy about a posh British hitman in the South of France whose retirement plans are thwarted, not by the French, but by the other Brits down here. Oh, and it had to be in black and white. ‘Black and white?’ asked McManus, eyebrow raised. ‘Always wanted to do that! If you write, I’ll direct.’
